over the course of the next 2-3 weeks, we will re-visit the raid group rosters. for a raid group to be viable stand alone, it needs to have ‘reserves’ or depth of roles (e.g. more than just two geared tanks) so that the group can raid even if someone is unavailable that day. for two groups to be viable, they both have to have their own reserves since stealing from one to fill the other would disable the one stolen from. at this time, we do not have two viable raid groups, we have one (mostly). we are still pugging 1-2 seats in a kara raid each night we raid even though we have the roles in guild, they are just not on as much as the group raids. lastly, we do not have enough healers or tanks such that if one of them needs to be absent, others can fill their spots – this is more the case with tanks (we only have two geared tanks) than with healers; however, two absent healers shuts down a raid unless we pug the seats.
what we most need to be able to rotate in are tanks and healers, shadow priests, warlocks and [oddly enough] hunters. right now, we are tending to pug a healer, and hunter. to make it an all-guild run, we need to continue to gear our healers and we need our hunters to switch into raiding often. case in point, the best drop out of kara for a hunter dropped last night (Legacy) and we had to give it to a pug hunter — and then about 15 mins later, he joined our guild! Welcome Bevynn! The point is not lost though, had he not joined our guild, a non-guild hunter would have walked away with the phat loot drop while our own hunters were either AFK, in a battleground unresponsive or offline – no issues there, just a pity to have them miss out on phat loot.
Morepi is pretty much the only shadow priest we have that is currently raiding, so if he is not available, we have to pug one in for shackles. Looking forward to seeing some of our priests getting into the raid group (shadow or holy).
Cocorosie is our only lock for raiding right now so we definitely need to recruit 1-2 more locks that are either Kara-gear-ready or that can gear up quickly and start raiding with us.
again, over the next 2-3 weeks, the ‘planned’ raid groupings will be reviewed against the ‘actuals’ to re-organize them (and account for newcomers and those departed). most likely, we will return to a single collection of geared and available raiders until we have enough depth to sustain two viable raid groups.
